Outlook Express Tutorial

Setting Up Your Outlook Express E-mail Account

  1. Open Outlook Express.

  2. Click 'Tools' on your top menu bar and select 'Accounts' from the drop-down menu.

  3. On the Internet Accounts screen, select the Mail tab to view your existing accounts.

  4. The Internet Connection Wizard will start up.

  5. On the first screen, enter your full name or the name you want displayed on your account when sending mail, then click Next.

  6. In the 'Account Name:' field, enter the user name we gave you followed by the @ symbol and your given domain name (ex: username@yourdoman.com). Enter your password in the 'Password:' field, then click Click Next.

  7. For the E-mail Server Names screen, fill in your incoming and outgoing e-mail servers. They are both the same for your account. Your domain is your e-mail server name without the WWW. Click Next

  8. On the Internet Mail Logon, enter your username (your username is your full e-mail address) and password, then click Next.

  9. Click Finish.

  10. On the Internet Accounts screen, select the Mail tab to view your existing accounts.

  11. Double click on your e-mail account name you just set up, or highlight the name and click the 'Properties' button.

  12. On the 'Properties' window, select the Advanced tab.

  13. If none of the boxes are checked under the 'Delivery' heading, the system always deletes messages from the server when you download them.

If you will be checking your e-mail from multiple locations, please use the following instructions:

  14. Check all the boxes under the 'Delivery' heading at the bottom.

  15. Select the number of days you would like to keep your e-mail available on the server (from 1-30).

  16. Press OK.

  17. Now, select the Servers tab.

  18. Check the My server requires authentication box.

  19. Press OK.

  20. Close the 'Accounts' screen.
